Queenswood at a glance

Queenswood is undoubtedly one of Pretoria's most favourite, all-time suburbs and brilliantly located to all that Pretoria is known for. It is also one of the suburbs that fall within the greater Moot area, with the iconic Magaliesberg Mountain ridge flanking its northern border, the Rietondale Farm to the west, the N1 Highway and Pretoria National Botanical Gardens to the east, the Colbyn Valley Nature Area and the best of Pretoria heading south.

Queenswood property options come with unlimited choice. Houses - typical of the Moot area - are often older in style, but large, with 4, 5, 6 even 7 rooms, on equally large stands. These homes are mostly well maintained, with renovations in keeping with the older contemporary designs. But there is also a good choice of homes that have received a more modern make-over. The larger homes are higher in price, but there is a vast choice of smaller homes for young families and first-time home owners, flats & apartments, complexes and town-houses as well as estate life-style choices. The fact that Queenswood caters for such a broad range of residents makes it a winning choice for many potential buyers.

Queenswood's location is one worth noting. Easy access to the centre of Pretoria (especially for government employees), cycling - even walking - distance to The University of Pretoria for those persons who are still enjoying student life and easy access to the Hatfield Gautrain Station. There is an unlimited choice of entertainment and lifestyle options, restaurants, pubs, markets, theatres and shopping centres, retirement facilities, outdoor entertainment and medical facilities. Queenswood should certainly be on-top of the list for a convenient lifestyle experience!

CLIMATE:

Lying at the foothills on the southern side of the Magaliesberg Mountain range, Queenswood is particularly well-sheltered against the elements, over and above the fact that it also enjoys a touch of the sub-tropical climate that is particularly prevalent just on the other side of the ridge. During the summer months the homes, gardens and streets are well shaded, under the large old trees, from the hot summer sun.

Days warm up from early in the morning and can easily reach 30 degrees Celsius and up. Rain takes place during summer and fortunately Pretoria is often blessed with mid to late afternoon showers, breaking the heat and leading to warm but comfortable evenings.

Winters can be quite cold during the early morning hours but generally warm up to be pleasantly comfortable for most of the day. On the odd occasion, when temperatures become unusually low, there may be frost.

DISTANCE FROM QUEENSWOOD TO THE PRETORIA CBD:

  • Via Pretorius St / M2: 18 min / 8 kms
  • Via the Soutpansberg / M22 and R101: 18 min / 9 kms
  • Distances are approximate and drive times indicated during normal traffic

MAJOR ACCESS ROUTES:

Queenswood enjoys easy access to most of the major throughfares leading to and from the surrounding areas of Pretoria. To the north lies Nico Smit and to the south is Soutpansberg Road both of which lead to the N1 Highway. On the west is Codonia Avenue and to the east is Kilnerton Road, both of which link up with Stanza Bobape Road - leading to the centre of Pretoria. All of these roads form borders with Queenswood, so access is remarkably quick and easy. Hatfield Gautrain station is a short distance from Villieria.
